In addition to teaching, AHI International School serves other less obvious societal functions.

The most recognized function of primary schools and thus AHI is to give children the opportunity to acquire at least basic skills in reading, writing and calculation. Of equal importance, however, is the fact that schools serve other less obvious societal functions, including

  • provides after-school care while parents work or pursue personal interests
  • encourages the development of social skills.

Thus, the school process has a significant impact on the development of children both academically and socially.

Municipal collaboration with immigrant school

A 15-year-old girl with a Turkish family background was thrown out of the municipal school in Farum after several violent episodes. As an experiment, a collaboration between public authorities and a private free school was initiated. The experiment was successful – and the girl has just completed the primary school final exams at Ahi International School in Vanløse.
